PARENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  • We strive to ensure the health, safety and security of each child while providing a nurturing environment in the following ways:
    • We ask that each child have an information card on file in the nursery. This is a “one-time” record that we will keep on file for further reference.
    • Each time your child stays in the nursery, you will fill out a 3-part sticker (green).
    • The right side will be placed on your child’s back for identification. The left side will be placed on the child’s diaper bag. The back side of the sticker will be kept by the parent to be used when the child is picked up. The pager number will be included on the child's sticker.
    • A pager will be provided to take with you in case you need to be reached. The pager will vibrate if we are trying to reach you.
    • If your child has any special needs or specific allergies, please bring that to the attention of the attendants.
    • Children showing any sign of illness, fever, cold or other contagious disease should not be in the nursery. Please refer to the posted “Sick/Illness Policy”.
    • Please label your child’s diaper bag, bottles, pacifiers, etc., but do not leave personal toys with your child.
    • We recommend that only one parent bring and pick up the child to avoid congestion. Please have older siblings wait in the hallway.
    • Please pick up your child immediately after dismissal from worship. Children picked up last become apprehensive.

SICK/ILLNESS POLICY
  • In an effort to keep all our little ones healthy and happy, please keep your little one at home if they have had any of the following symptoms/illnesses within the last 24 hours: Active Chicken Pox, Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye), Diarrhea, Fever, Impetigo, Measles, Mumps, Vomiting, Runny Nose, Cough (persistent), Questionable Rashes
  • If your child is being treated with antibiotics, he/ she should be on the medication for 48 hours prior to being in the nursery.
  • Please let us know if your child has a clear runny nose or rash due to non-contagious allergies. We realize that some symptoms hang on long after the child is no longer contagious.

NURSERY JOB DESCRIPTIONS
  • Coordinator Responsibilities
    • Call nursery workers on Friday or Saturday for working the following Sunday. Or, mail a postal card on the Wednesday before a person is to work on Sunday.
    • Check beepers for fresh batteries periodically and be sure Attendant #1 knows how to operate beepers. Record date that batteries are changed in each beeper.
    • Check nursery for cleanliness periodically.
    • Be sure the nursery is stocked with snacks, wipes, diapers, etc.
    • Wash linens and smocks as necessary.
    • Meet every six months to make necessary changes for efficiency, safety, and security.
    • Keep current information on file for each child, even visitors.
  • Attendant #1: (Please see “Sunday Morning Nursery Schedule.”)
    • Distribute and collect beepers.
    • Facilitate sign in sheet and form for each child.
    • Receive children over counter.
    • Help clean up/sanitize.
  • Attendant #2: (Please see “Sunday Morning Nursery Schedule.”)
    • Watch/play with children. See “Suggested Nursery Activities.”
    • Clean up/sanitize toys.
  • Backup Attendant (same as Attendant #2): (Please see “Sunday Morning Nursery Schedule.”)
    • Pick up beeper before going to worship.
    • Report to nursery, if beeped (usually when there are more than eight children in nursery or more than two young babies or criers).
    • Turn in beeper and see if attendants need help cleaning up.

NURSERY ATTENDANT GUIDELINES
  • It is your responsibility to find a replacement if you cannot serve. If you are sick, please get someone on the schedule to trade with you. If everyone seventh grade age and above does their part, you should only have to serve in nursery two or three times a year.
  • Please arrive at nursery at 9:45 a.m. to relieve Cradle Roll teachers. Some children stay for class and also worship.
  • Please wear nursery smock so that you will visibly be a nursery attendant.
  • You may split the group and take older toddlers (or sleeping babies) to the Frog room. But, be sure they are accompanied by an attendant.
  • Doorway to the hallway will be locked at all times. Attendants should enter through Yellow classroom door. Only nursery attendants should be in the nursery. Children should enter and exit over the counter. Entering and leaving through the hallway door upsets some children.
  • Be sure nursery, changing tables, toys, etc. are put back in place, cleaned, and sanitized before you leave, but after children are gone. Cleaners should not be used while children are present.
  • Signing in the children:
    • Be sure the child has a card on file. (Regular attendees will already have one.)
    • Have each parent fill out the 3-part identification sticker. Right side of sticker goes on child’s back. Left side of sticker goes on diaper bag. Back side of sticker goes with parent/guardian to be used when picking up child.
    • Give parent a pager. Be sure it is turned “on” and working.
    • Parents must drop off and pick up children over the counter.
  • Signing out the children:
    • When child is picked up, be sure the parent has all the child’s belongings.
    • Each child must be picked up over the counter.
    • Make sure pager is returned, turned off, and stored properly.

NURSERY ACTIVITIES FOR THE CHILDREN
  • Allow the children to play freely, read stories to them, sing songs with them or even rock them.
  • There are three white bins full of toys on top of the shelf. We suggest getting only one down at a time.
  • There are toys, a book bin and a basket of babies in the large bookcase in the back of the room for their play as well.
  • There is a CD player and CD’s.
  • There are light snacks and bubbles that are stored in the upper cabinet.
  • We request that all children have their diapers changed or “go potty” right before parents come to pick them up if at all possible. There is a separate changing area and child’s potty in the back of the room through the door to the right as well as a changing pad stored on top of the large bookcase for your use.
  • Please avoid using the cradle roll seating/ table and keep children away from the cradle roll class items (stored on the bookcases behind the fabric panels).

Kidz Call Bible Classes meet each Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. We offer our children 6 month - 5th grade exciting, fun-filled Bible classes designed to connect them with God's word and each other. It is our desire to create an atmosphere filled with laughter, love and the presence of God that will help our children share these gifts with those around them in their families, schools and communities.
